This piece honors the famous Amazonas de Yaxunah, the Mexican Mayan women’s softball team who play barefoot while wearing their classic  indigenous huipil. The artwork connects them to the ancient Mayan ballgame (Pok ta Pok), where the movement of the ball was seen as a metaphor for the cosmos.
